AS Katy French continued to fight for her life last night, it emerged she was not transported to hospital by ambulance. The revelation raises further questions about the mysterious circumstances that led to the 24-year-old model ending up in intensive care. The HSE last night refused to confirm how Katy arrived at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan, Co Meath, early on Sunday.
However, reliable, well-placed sources in the ambulance service said it had ‘absolutely no involvement’.
Katy was reportedly at a house in Kilmessan, Co. Meath, when she collapsed. Reports yesterday suggested a quick-thinking friend rushed the model to hospital in a private car after she had a seizure.
A spokesman for the HSE North East said the area was serviced by eight ambulances last Saturday night, operating out of bases in Navan, Dunshaughlin, Dundalk, Drogheda and Ardee.
It was unclear whether the friend who took Katy to A& E stayed with her or provided staff with key details, such as whether drugs or alcohol had been taken. A HSE spokesman refused to comment, saying such information was confidential.
‘We will not be making any comment except to give updates on the condition of the patient,’ she said.
With mystery continuing to shroud the events of last Saturday night, the rumour mill has been in overdrive.
Among the reports circulating on the Dublin social scene are that Katy collapsed at a party at an apartment block in Ashbourne earlier in the night but recovered before arriving at the Kilmessan residence.
A number of people have also been identified as being present, including an actor, and a number of prominent business people.
However, those rumoured to have been present have either denied being there or refused to comment. Some even said they were out of the country at the weekend.
